We're currently seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic tunnel construction project in Toronto, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence and safety.
Job Overview:
As an Electrical Engineer (EE) with MGR Workforce, you'll oversee the complete lifecycle of electrical systems for a tunnel construction project. From equipment procurement and installation to ongoing maintenance, you'll ensure reliable power delivery, minimize downtime, and uphold the highest safety standards. This role demands technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to keeping the project on track in a fast-paced underground environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement, installation, operation, and maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with current Canadian electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Select, train, and authorize qualified personnel to safely work on electrical systems at required voltage levels.
- Implement safe work systems, issuing permits to work and permits to energize equipment per project protocols.
- Collaborate with the tunneling team to plan future work and develop Work Site Safety Plans (WSSPs) as needed.
- Develop and maintain detailed maintenance procedures for electrical installations.
- Oversee daily shift reports for all project sections, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections to uphold health and safety (H&S) standards.
- Compile and manage comprehensive electrical documentation.
- Liaise with electrical personnel to ensure understanding of upcoming tasks and adherence to work procedures.
- Set a strong example in promoting a culture of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) excellence.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 10 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, ideally in underground construction or tunneling projects.
- Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) in Ontario required.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards specific to tunnel construction equipment.
- Proven ability to design and implement effective maintenance programs for complex electrical systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with teams, supervisors, and clients.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accurate electrical records.
