Purpose of the Role:

As a Manufacturing Data/Controls Engineer, you'll refine & improve existing processes and support the development of new automation equipment/assembly lines. This includesworking closely with our Product Design Engineering, Quality, Production and Maintenance teams to bring components from initial design, through prototype development and finally into full production.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You have 5 - 8 years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Applications Engineer working on automation and/or manufacturing processes.
  • You have a Bachelors Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or Electrical/Controls Engineering.
  • You have 3+ years of experience in SCADA system development (Ignition preferred) and controls design experience.
  • You have experience programming robots (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, Cobots)and creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment.
  • You have experience using data-driven approaches such as supervised machine learning for optimizing sequential, process, discrete, drive, or motion control.
  • You have experience with Vision and Sensing systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
  • You have experience with PLC Programming (Allen Bradley preferred), HMI, and RSLOGIX software.

What Success looks like in this role:

  • You will be responsible for equipment integration with SCADA systems, validating data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • You will implement and support both hardware and software for PLC and HMI systems in industrial automation.
  • You will design and implement reliable safety control systems for high-volume manufacturing equipment including robots, conveyors, and gantries.
  • You will seek to automate manual processes, streamlining operations through innovative solutions.
  • You will promote a safe and compliant work environment, actively supporting health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • You will continuously improve control systems to optimize manufacturing workflows and performance, and integrate third-party machines seamlessly into existing control and data systems.
  • You will analyze manufacturing data to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and research new equipment for continuous improvement.
  • You will contribute to early-stage equipment development, balancing technical specs, process control needs, layout design, cost, quality, and timelines.
