Be the Driving Force Behind Equine Safety in Canada

Business Development Manager | Equine Register Canada

Shape the future of equine welfare while building a thriving business

Are You Ready to Make History?

We're not just building a database – we're revolutionizing how Canada protects its horses. Equine Register Canada is launching the country's first comprehensive equine traceability platform, and we need a dynamic Business Development Manager to help us change the game.

From Olympic champions to beloved family ponies, every horse deserves protection. Your work will directly impact national biosecurity, disease control, and animal welfare across the entire country.

The Challenge

As our Business Development Manager, you'll be the driving force behind our growth in Canada and supporting expansion into the USA. This isn't your average sales role – you'll be introducing a groundbreaking digital platform to an industry hungry for innovation.

Your Mission

  • Hunt for untapped opportunities in the Canadian equine market
  • Transform interested prospects into passionate advocates
  • Build relationships with government agencies, industry associations, and individual horse owners
  • Navigate the unique intersection of technology, animal welfare, and business development

Why This Role Matters

Your success means thousands of horses and the people that are connected to them will be safer.

Every new client you bring on board strengthens the national safety net we're building. When disease outbreaks threaten, when natural disasters strike, when stolen horses need to be recovered – your work will make the difference between chaos and coordinated response.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 10+ years of hunting down and closing deals in sales, marketing, or business development
  • Degree in business, marketing, or related field
  • Digital fluency and comfort with performance metrics
  • The ability to speak the language of both tech innovators and traditional horse people
  • A talent for managing teams that consistently exceed targets
  • French and/or Spanish proficiency (major bonus)
  • Experience with government contracting (highly valued)
  • Connections in the equine industry (ideal but not required – passion for the mission is)

You'll work in a hybrid environment with a team that's as passionate about horses as they are about cutting-edge technology. And yes, occasional travel means you might actually get to meet some of the magnificent animals you're working to protect.

Ready to Lead the Charge?

This is more than a job – it's a chance to pioneer something that matters. Every connection you make, every deal you close, brings us closer to a safer future for Canada's horses.

If you're ready to combine your business development prowess with meaningful work that makes a difference, we want to hear from you.

The brand of Equine Register is recognized as world-leading in the field of national and international equine whole-herd traceability. We believe that every horse matters, whether it is an Olympic champion, a happy hacker, a child's pony, a donkey in a rescue centre, or even a semi-feral pony living in a forest. Our digital services aim to support the welfare and well-being of all equines and make it easier for those who are responsible and care for horses to record and get access to information.
We are committed to ensure that the services we provide support and exceed our client's expectations and that our clients are advocates of our services to others who have yet to engage with us.
A need for a national traceability and identification platform has been identified in Canada to support the equine industry, equine owners, keepers, breeders and competitors. We are currently in the process of building our team in ERC to deliver these services for and with the Canadian equine sector to keep Canadian equines safe.Company DescriptionEquine Register (Canada) Limited (ERC) is a subsidiary of Vivaria Global Holdings Limited (VGHL).
