About the Role
We are seeking an Estates Litigation Law Clerk to join this dynamic legal team. In this role, you will work closely with a team of experienced lawyers and clerks, supporting complex litigation matters that often intersect with family dynamics and elder care.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and manage legal documents for estate litigation files, including affidavits, applications, and motion records
  • Conduct legal research and review relevant statutes, case law, and medical or financial records
  • Organize and manage large volumes of documentation, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
  • Liaise with clients, court staff, medical professionals, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare court materials for various estate litigation proceedings, including:
    • Will challenges and defences
    • Power of attorney disputes
    • Guardianship applications
    • Capacity and undue influence claims
    • Dependent support applications
    • Contested passing of accounts and unjust enrichment claims
  • Manage court filings and coordinate with process servers
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to legal professionals as needed

What You Bring
  • Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent education
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in estate litigation or related legal areas
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and estate law processes
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Compassion and discretion when working with sensitive client matters
  • Experience with legal software such as PCLaw, Primafact, or similar platforms is an asset
