HR Coordinator
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid 1 day from home)
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: $70,000/year

Our client in Toronto, ON is actively looking for a HR Coordinator to join their team.
Position Summary:Mier Human Capital is seeking a motivated, diligent, and detail-oriented HR Coordinator to support our Human Resources Department both at our Head Office and at various contract locations in the Greater Toronto Area. This role will focus on employee and union relations, workplace safety, and relationship building to foster a positive work environment. The HR Coordinator will play a crucial role in maintaining strong connections, facilitating communication, and ensuring HR policies align with company goals as well as all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
  • Labour Relations - Work closely with Union representatives, maintain labour relations between the company and respective unions, manage grievance/issue resolution, and provide education and interpretation on collective agreements, policies and new or amended laws and regulations.
  • Employee Relations – Serve as a point of contact to maintain/improve employee relations, address employee issues/concerns, resolve conflicts, follow the progressive discipline process, and promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Health & Safety/Compliance – Maintain and improve the Company's Health & Safety program, develop programs, policies and procedures and ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • WSIB Claims Management – Provide support in accident/incident reporting, oversee and participate in workplace compensation claims, Early & Safety Return to Work meetings and programs, and provide direction on workplace accommodations.
  • General HR – Support the development, implementation and ongoing success of any Corporate HR policies, programs, and procedures that align with company goals and standards. Facilitate training and development programs on HR-related topics. Maintain the company's Human Resources practices and provide updates to the company on all relevant laws and legislation.
  • Recruitment – Post new or vacant positions, screen and track applicants, and coordinate interviews. Any additional duties or requests given by Management.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Must be fluent in English and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (bilingual and multilingual is a plus).
  • Must have 3+ Years of Human Resources experience and 1+ Year experience in the janitorial or service industry.
  • Labour relations skills and experience in a unionized environment.
