ROLE: This position will be responsible for the payroll and benefits aspect of our dynamic human resources team, as well as providing recruitment support to the HR Director and executive support to the management team. QUALIFICATIONS: * 3 to 5 years of payroll and benefits experience is required. * Advanced knowledge in processing bi-weekly payroll using online payroll software. * Well‐versed in payroll legislation and employment standards. Has initiative to do research. * Must treat all HR and Payroll matters with the strictest confidentiality. * Detail‐oriented; ability to work with numbers quickly and accurately. * Extensive experience in benefits enrollment, administration and processing. * Systematic in solving problems and implementing solutions. * Has a competent background in Microsoft Excel and is a fast learner of payroll and accounting software. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Canadian Payroll Association Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certificate is required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Complete bi-weekly payroll for all hourly and salaried employees in a timely manner. * Facilitate payroll and benefits procedures for employee enrollment, termination and adjustments. * Set up appropriate recurring pay elements such as vacation pay, tax deductions, RSP contributions and other taxable benefits. * Prepare year‐end payroll reports such as taxable benefits, and generate accurate T4 documents within the required timelines. * Track and report vacation use and entitlements, monitor banked time and sick day usage and report to division managers on a regular basis. * Maintain the accuracy and completeness of all payroll‐related records. * Provide assistance to internal and external auditors. * Process new hire documentation, prepare employee packages and coordinate setup: office & parking allocation, software requirements, safety training. * Reconcile benefits invoices for Group Insurance, Health Spending and RRSP accounts. * Conduct preliminary (phone) and face‐to‐face interviews for recruiting future hires. * Conduct onboarding orientation and exit interviews. * Prepare and deliver salary increase, vacation accrual increase, employment changes and termination letters. * Maintain the company policy manual and assist with implementation of new policies.
