About the Role:
The Electrical Engineer is a key player in ensuring the successful delivery of Canadian tunnel construction projects. This role involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of electrical systems, from procurement and installation to operation and maintenance. The Electrical Engineer ensures compliance with Canadian safety standards and contributes to the seamless progress of projects by maintaining reliable electrical power and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities:
Electrical System Management:
- Oversee the procurement, installation, and operation of electrical systems and equipment used in tunneling projects.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures to ensure optimal system functionality.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical systems and installations adhere to Canadian safety codes and regulations.
- Implement and monitor safe work systems, issuing permits for electrical work and system energization.
- Conduct site safety inspections and enforce health and safety standards.
Personnel Management:
- Train and authorize personnel to safely operate electrical systems at required voltage levels.
- Provide technical guidance to team members, ensuring adherence to protocols and standards.
Project Coordination and Planning:
- Collaborate with the tunneling team to align electrical operations with project timelines and objectives.
- Assist in the preparation of Work Site Safety Plans (WSSPs) and forecast future electrical requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive electrical documentation, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and system diagrams.
- Prepare daily shift reports summarizing electrical activities, issues, and resolutions.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues promptly to minimize project delays.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, preferably with underground construction projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineering Designation in Ontario (P.Eng).
- In-depth understanding of Canadian electrical codes, safety standards, and tunneling equipment.
- Proficiency in electrical engineering software for system design, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
- High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in documentation and operations.
- Must pass a criminal background check prior to employment.
- Attend mandatory safety orientation and training sessions as required by the project.
