About Ventures & Ecosystems

This role resides within the V&E group at MaRS. V&E works with over 1400 innovation-driven science and technology startups. V&E helps entrepreneurs commercialize innovations with high business growth potential in Canada and globally by facilitating access to the customer, talent, funding, marketing and stakeholder connections required to successfully scale their business.

About the Position

In this role, the Analyst will work closely with the MaRS Market Intelligence (MI) team as well as other MaRS teams/partners to deliver high-impact market research projects that support the launch, growth, and scaling of innovative ventures.

The Analyst will also collaborate with the MI team to understand venture clients needs and develop research assets and tools that enhance service offerings and improve overall client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the successful delivery of high-impact market research projects focused on venture clients research needs, addressing challenges related to market sizing, market trends, customer insights, investment strategies, and competitive or partner landscapes.
    • Key tasks include: project scoping, developing proposals and research frameworks, conducting research and analysis, holding client check-ins, and presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop strategies, frameworks, and methodologies that elevate the teams market research capabilities. Work with the MI team and other teams to iterate on product offerings, improve client experiences, and support venture growth.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior and new team members, including walking through processes, reviewing research deliverables, and ensuring consistent, high-quality outputs.
  • Ensure timely and detailed reporting and documentation of client projects in Salesforce, Asana, and other relevant platforms. Contribute to internal operational efficiency initiatives and other internal projects as needed.
  • Occasionally take on secondments or special projects for strategic partners and teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree
  • 1+ years of experience in scoping and designing research projects, drafting project proposals, executing market research studies and managing project timelines
  • 1+ year of experience in leading research projects
  • 1+ year of client-facing experience
  • Strong knowledge and interest in Health, Cleantech and/or FinTech/ICT sectors
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship, innovative technology, and market research
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Professional communication skills, with tact and sensitivity in client interactions
  • Proficient in primary and secondary research methods
  • Skilled in working with quantitative datasets and conducting market or customer analysis
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Creative problem-solver with a curious and analytical mindset
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Solid understanding of one sector, with the ability to analyze and contextualize trends and data
