The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise FP&A, this role has two critical areas of accountability:
  • Controllership and Management Reporting of Parkland's Corporate MG&A portfolio
  • Enterprise FPA analysis
This role will be generally divided evenly between these two areas of accountability, though during certain months, this role will be more heavily weighted towards one area over the other. Parkland has a large and diverse corporate function whose divisions are responsible for supporting Enterprise Corporate operations and centrally manage Shared Service functions which support our Operating Divisions. The Senior Financial Analyst will hold the responsibility for ensuring that the budgeting, reporting, and forecasting of Corporate MG&A costs, including allocations, is completed in a reliable, timely and accurate fashion. Successful candidates will effectively partner with the Corporate functional areas to support performance management. This role is also accountable for ensuring the reliable, timely and accurate operation of Parkland's EPM system to meet our Enterprise budgeting, forecasting, long range planning, and management reporting needs. The Senior Financial Analyst will assist in maintaining and developing new functionality in Oracle EPM to support our path of continuous improvement for Parkland's FP&A processes. The focus will be on the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes which will include Projects, Capital, Financials, and Workforce planning modules. This job is accountable and responsible for maintaining a strict level of confidentiality relative to compensation matters.

Responsibilities:

Controllership and Management Reporting of Parkland's Corporate MG&A portfolio
  • Communicate critical timelines and updates with MG&A Business Unit owners.
  • Monthly update of actual payroll expenses and update of FTE headcounts.
  • Accounting review of multiple Business Units.
  • Reclass, reallocation entries, and review of Corporate allocation and labor capitalization entries.
  • Working with BU owners to review MG&A and CAPEX actuals to ensure costs are accurately captured, and if required, support booking required accruals and reclasses.
  • Monthly variance analysis consolidation and report out.
  • Working with BU owners to complete monthly MG&A and CAPEX forecast (with support from Enterprise FP&A Analysts).
  • Annual Corporate MG&A and CAPEX budget review and consolidation, including the allocation of any Corporate “stretch” targets as well.
  • Annual consolidation and review of Corporate allocations between Corporate BU's and Operating Divisions.
  • Ensuring that data actual, forecast and budget data is properly reflected in the EPM system.
  • Support in developing material for quarterly Board reporting.
Operational support of Parkland's EPM system
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of Oracle EPM applications to support our path of continuous improvement for Parkland's FP&A processes.
  • Assist with training Oracle EPM super-users across Parkland's Divisions on a regular basis as well as creating and maintaining training documentation. Supporting and developing processes for annual budgets, monthly forecast, MG&A variance analysis and strategic planning processes within the EPM system.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and to leverage system tools to automate processes, making recommendations on system design and enhancements.
  • Strategic support for the wider application and integration of EPM System Architecture/Process as part of Parkland's NextGen project, which will see the entirety of Parkland's operations move under a single ERP and Chart of Accounts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Computer Science with 5+ years of FP&A or financial systems experience.
  • Strong analytical skills to validate and challenge information by various sources.
  • Strong project management and team skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong skills related to execution and implementation of process changes.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work independently and be accountable for results.
  • Possess the capacity to listen / consult / advise and provide solutions for a variety of stakeholders who may have concurrent or competing priorities.
  • High degree of attention to detail and organization.
  • Driven and the ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge in Oracle EPM modules: Revenue, Expenses, Capital, Workforce Planning and Strategic Modelling.
  • Experience in managing data forms, hierarchies, data synchronizations, writing calculation scripts, designing reports in Financial Reporting Studio and Smart View, among other Oracle EPM administrator's functions.
