About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Onsite Accountant to join our client's team in Downtown Toronto. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a preference for experience within the legal sector. As an accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting financial reporting processes. This position requires a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including processing invoices, payments, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure timely processing of transactions.
  • Prepare and review financial reports for management, providing insights into the company's financial position.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis.
  • Support audit preparation and respond to audit inquiries.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as needed.
  • Provide financial support for legal billings and ensure accurate tracking of client accounts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial information
What You Bring
  • A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the legal industry.
  • Proficient in accounting software (PC Law).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing procedures.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Familiarity with legal billing practices and client trust accounts is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
