The client provides information technology (IT) services, including business outsourcing, infrastructure technology, and application services. The application service offered by the company includes application development, maintenance, and support. The markets served by the company are financial services and insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, government, transportation, communications, and consumer and retail industries.
Rate Range: $55-$60/Hr
Job Description:

  • We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Payroll to lead our payroll department.
  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of implementing payroll enhancements and driving strategic improvements.
  • This role requires a deep understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and technology, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic vision for the payroll department, aligning with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Review of existing SOPs and process documents and strengthening the processes with best practices
  • Technology Integration: Lead the integration and optimization of payroll systems and technologies to streamline operations and improve user experience.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the payroll team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations and address any issues or concerns.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Oversee the preparation and analysis of payroll reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with payroll service providers and other external vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the payroll department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • CBA conversant experience working in a unionized environment and conversant with Collective Agreements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, processes, and regulations.
  • Proven experience in driving strategic improvements and implementing payroll enhancements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite. Workday experience and expertise preferred.
  • Experience in Workday Payroll system is preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
  • Experience with international payroll operations.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and ERP systems.
