Payroll Analyst is responsible for assisting in multiple payroll activities relating to weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing in a union and non-unionized environment. This includes timely and accurate reporting of payroll data for the company employees. Integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role.

Essential Job Functions
- Receive all incoming payroll documents on a weekly basis for payroll processing from district administrators and review for errors. Communicate with districts to determine and correct errors, if any.
- Full payroll cycle processing - Process new hires, changes, rehires and terminations in UKG and JDE
- Review hours exported and balance timesheet hours
- Balance and process weekly expenses submitted through payroll
- Process payroll deductions such as union dues and other recoverables
- Generate payroll reports and update relevant spreadsheets
- Perform system steps to generate payroll GL downloads
- Issue Records of Employment and update systems accordingly
- Ensure all payroll month end requisitions and cheques are processed as per due dates
- Calculate manual payroll payments for missed timesheets including preparing and entering wire transfers and ensuring appropriate deductions occur
- Communicate with 3rd party vendors such as Service Canada, Unions, Workers Compensation, and other government agencies
- Process annual union increases and any applicable retroactive payments
- Monthly Union Remittances – create reports and process any adjustments as necessary
- Monthly WSIB compensation reports – create and process
- Assist with year end duties and reconciliations
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Certification through the National Payroll Institute or completion of payroll related courses
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible payroll administration experience
- Knowledge and work experience with UKG Pro is preferred
- Knowledge of current legislative requirements and CRA regulations
- Intermediate level skills using Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word and Outlook
- Quick learner with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to deal with tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills

- Highly conscientious, along with an energetic and mature approach
