Based in the Victoria BC area, our client is a manufacturing company in the heavy equipment sector.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and evaluation of the manufacturing plant and its unionized production employees with a focus on safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, develop, and mentor a team of supervisors and unionized production support staff.
- Rewards/disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems with objectivity and maturity working through union process and procedures within a collective agreement.
- Directs along with Supervisors and HR the recruitment and selection of production personnel.
- Sets job performance objectives, regularly measures performance, advises department employees of their standing, and guides them in improving their performance, if needed.
- Ensure with HSE Officer guidance compliance with safety, labor, and environmental requirements.
- Develop and mentor a team of supervisors and unionized production support staff.
- Generates capital plan and operating budget recommendations to improve/maintain the efficiency of the facility and develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
- Other as required.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of previous experience in an equivalent role managing salary and unionized
employees, preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment with steel fabrication,
welding, and/or machining. - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.
- Proficient with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Salary - open to discussion with a range from 120-140,000+.
