Work with senior management and staff under the direction of the VP of Member Services in the creation and implementation of an annual Prairies industry communication plan which addresses opportunities such as:
- Attracting new members, engaging current members and enhancing member value.
- Driving training and event attendance and sponsorships.
- Making data-informed decisions on member preference and ideal message delivery pathways.
- Supporting the awareness and expansion of new and existing services across the Prairies region.
Communications Services – shining a light on manufacturing in the Prairies:
Work with senior management and staff under the direction of the VP of Member Services in the creation and implementation of an annual Prairies public and stakeholder communication plan which addresses opportunities such as:
- Sharing members stories & manufacturing contributions to the economy and communities across the Prairies region.
- Strategic and effective delivery of CME information and policy reports across all communication avenues.
- Government and stakeholder consultation and communication opportunities.
Strategic Event Planning and Oversight:
With the guidance of the VP of Member Services, Lead senior management and staff in the creation and implementation of an annual Prairies event plan which addresses opportunities such as:
- Strategically addressing the needs of all CME Prairies service areas regarding in person and virtual connections.
- Making data informed decisions in the execution of event and engagement strategies.
- Plan, organize, and execute a variety of public events including member dinners with politicians, golf tournaments, and conferences focused on manufacturing operational excellence.
- Collaborate with senior managers to define event objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Manage all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, registration, and on-site management.
- Ensure high standards of quality and service at all events, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
Events & Communications – Running the business:
- Monitor event and communications trends and developments to inform strategic decisions on pricing, costing and delivery platforms.
- Using data to evolve or retire certain event and communications tactics
- Ensuring event and communications strategies are informed by member feedback, data review, budget and internal capacity.
Systemic Support:
- CME Prairies is a critical industry service provider working across three provinces and a diverse range of member service offerings. This will require all CME team members, including the Manger of Member Engagement, to be flexible when it comes to opportunities to assume activities outside of the above mentioned responsibilities.
People Leadership:
- Inspires their team to maximize CME benefits for each member company on a consistent basis, such that high performance is the norm.
- Oversee the Prairies Communications, Event and Member services Coordination teams ensuring teams ensuring that each employee:
- Has clear direction and priorities.
- Has a leader who effectively removes or resolves issues causing a team member to be unable to efficiently deliver on their responsibilities.
- Receives coaching and development to help the individual achieve their goals, build on their strengths and develop new skills.
- Has a leader who listens, leads with empathy and supports them on their professional journey.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Project Management, or a related field (Master's degree or equivalent is an asset).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in communications management, member services, events oversight and planning, or a related role, preferably within a membership-based organization or industry association.
- Proven track record in creating and managing operational plans focused on communications and events, enhancing member engagement and driving business net revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of the manufacturing and export sectors and/or public policy particularly within the Prairies region.
- Excellent time management, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
- Proficient in using CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement communication strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Excellent Writing Skills: Proficiency in writing clear, persuasive, and engaging content for various platforms, including press releases, articles, and social media.
- Public Relations Knowledge: Understanding of public relations practices and media relations, including how to manage crises and build relationships with journalists.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and the media, fostering collaboration and trust.
- Project Management: Skills in planning, executing, and overseeing communication projects and events, including campaigns, events, and internal communications.
- Audience Analysis: Ability to listen to CME's members and internal department heads to analyze and understand what success looks like to CME members during communication and event execution.
- Digital Literacy: Familiarity with digital communication tools, including social media, website management, and analytics, to enhance communication efforts.
- Creative Thinking: Capacity to generate innovative ideas to help deliver services to our members, including continually improving process for better internal and external services.
- Crisis Communication: Skills in managing communication during a crisis, including the ability to respond quickly and effectively to mitigate damage to the organization's reputation.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust communication strategies based on feedback, changing circumstances, or new developments in the industry.
- Measurement and Evaluation: Capability to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and Event success through metrics and analysis, adjusting approaches as needed.
Key Deliverables:
- Develop and manage a living calendar of events, working closely with finance.
- Develop an execution plan for marketing and communis with each program
- Plan and execute CME's key events.
- Manage resources ensure CME efficiently meets all outcomes while building team members capability and skills.
- Develop and execute CME communications strategies according to different channels
- Work collaboratively with all team members to eliminate waste from process and improve outcomes.
- Kaizen and process improvement on CME's internal processes.
