Your Role
The Engineering Intern assists with the electrical, firmware or mechatronics design and development of various company-produced systems, and the preparation of engineering drawings and documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and test the embedded system firmware for new and existing products.
- Implement drawing changes in SolidWorks and/or Altium Designer ORCAD from markups with minimal supervision.
- Source components, develop test procedures and conduct system tests.
- Assist in the development and assembly of mechanical and/or electrical prototypes, and perform testing and evaluation.
- Write up test protocols, assembly procedures and test reports.
- Communicate with certification bodies to develop design and testing strategies and requirements.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- University student having successfully completed courses in SolidWorks and Altium Designer ORCAD
- Experience in embedded firmware design implementation
- Completed a minimum of one work term (4 months) in similar role
Knowledge & Skills:
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or Altium Designer ORCAD
- Working knowledge of MS Excel spreadsheet, MS Word, and MS Outlook software
- Ability to perform engineering calculations using mathematical and software tool
- Fluent in English, ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports and documents.
