Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Geographic Information Systems Analyst position in the Technology & Digital Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Business Value Delivery, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst designs, implements, and maintains GIS technology, applications, integrations, and spatial data for Parkland County. This position processes spatial data requests, conducts spatial analyses, and develops geospatial visualizations to support decision-making. This position also ensures the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of spatial data through effective data management and integration practices. In addition, this position provides support for GIS applications and enterprise system integrations, working closely with end-users to enhance functionality and usability. This position adheres to best practices in IT service management and security while supporting incident resolution and change management. This position is expected to remain current as to existing and emerging GIS technologies and participate in GIS-related projects, process improvements, and innovation initiatives that drive continuous business value for the organization.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
  • Post Secondary Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or a related discipline.
  • GISP certification is preferred.
  • ESRI Enterprise Geodata Management Associate and/or Enterprise System Design certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and related extensions.
  • Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, geospatial analysis, and spatial statistics.
  • Experience with SQL Server, writing SQL queries, and managing spatial databases.
  • Proficiency with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) for data transformation, automation, and integration.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Data Store, and cloud/on-premise GIS environments.
  • Understanding of web mapping technologies (JavaScript, Leaflet, Mapbox, ESRI Web AppBuilder, Experience Builder) and APIs.
  • Experience processing, managing, and analyzing raster imagery, aerial photography, satellite imagery, and LiDAR
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
The total rewards package for this position includes:
A starting annual salary of $74,800 to $80,900, with a maximum earning potential for this pay range of $94,600, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
