The Company

BSG provides flexible, full-service vessels for industrial workforce accommodation, logistics, and ferry service at any location throughout the world. BSG customizes services to the exact needs and locations of clients, ensuring that solutions meet precise specifications, including logistics, crew transfers, housekeeping, catering, and the fulfillment of all HSE requirements.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the Technical Superintendent is responsible for the technical/maritime operation of a group of vessels. Leveraging acquired technical knowledge and experience in the maritime industry, the Technical Superintendent is further responsible in ensuring that all assigned vessels are operating in a safe and efficient manner in line with maritime regulations and company operating procedures and policies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Preparation of yearly budget, in co-operation with shipboard management

· Evaluating progress and cost development against budgets, with proposals for necessary changes or improvements, subject to Management approval

· Monitoring ship performances through ship reports, class survey reports, and verification by inspection on board

· Monitoring the classification status of individual vessels, and in case a detected defect or damage affecting the class of the vessel, the corresponding classification society shall be informed.

· Lead and participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

· Providing maritime/technical information and support to shipboard management

· Endeavoring to improve maintenance systems, methods, and practices

· Monitoring progress of repair and maintenance, and classification/statutory programs/surveys

· Monitoring of bunker sampling and quality

· Monitoring the effectiveness of verification and inspection activities

· Initiate and track necessary improvements to completion

· Planning and supervision of dry-docking, major repairs, and conversions

· Monitoring of certificate status

· Assisting Fleet Manager, as applicable, in preparation of periodic reports to owners on the ships technical/operational status and cost development

· Supporting the implementation and operation of the quality system on board through inspections

· Quality System improvement in connection with the inspection on board

· Secure required spares, stores and provisions at all times is on board for safe ship operation

· Approval / acceptance of requisitions and placing purchase orders.

· Follow developments of new equipment within the function

· Assist or substitute other superintendents as necessary

· Follow up on rules/regulations and safety standards within the function

· Condition survey of vessels prior to entering into management contracts and in connection with purchase/sale arrangements

· Identification and verification of training needs for on board staff, to ensure the competency level required

· Identification and verification of training needs of shipboard personnel whose work may cause a significant impact on safety, environment, and operations, and providing feedback regarding such training needs through appropriate remarks in the Appraisal & Assessment Report and other reports to the Company's management.

· Perform internal audits, if/when requested by the Head of SHEQ Department

· Take an active part in the SHE-Q culture within the Company

Qualifications

· Higher maritime education with related training and experience as Chief Engineer on board ferries and high-speed crafts.

· At least 3 years of experience in a capacity of Technical Superintendent for high-speed crafts and ferries ships with a passenger capacity of more than 500 passengers.

· Computer literate.

· Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of people.

· Organizational skills.

· Negotiation and argumentation skills.

· Presentational skills.

· English for job required level.
