As we prepare for our launch, we seek a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to oversee startup operations, implement strategic plans, and establish best-in-class service standards. This is a leadership role suited for an industry professional with deep knowledge of the beauty and wellness sector, strong business acumen, and a passion for customer service excellence.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager / Nail specialist will play a pivotal role in launching and managing the daily operations of Selam Serenity Spa. This individual will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, optimizing staff performance, enhancing the overall client experience, and driving brand visibility through strategic marketing initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be highly personable, deeply knowledgeable about spa services, and capable of performing at least one of the services offered at Selam Serenity Spa. They will provide leadership, foster a positive work culture, establish an online presence, and drive profitability while maintaining the highest quality of service.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Business Operations

  • Assist in finalizing and executing Selam Serenity Spa's business plan, ensuring all aspects of operations align with strategic goals.
  • Oversee startup operations, including vendor management, equipment procurement, and service rollout.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Identify revenue opportunities and develop strategies to increase profitability, including optimizing service pricing and retail product sales.
  • Conduct market research to ensure SSS remains competitive in pricing, services, and customer experience.

Team Leadership & Staff Development

  • Recruit, train, and oversee spa staff, ensuring they meet SSS's service and customer experience standards.
  • Foster a positive work environment, ensuring high morale, teamwork, and professional growth among employees.
  • Implement performance evaluation programs and provide coaching to enhance staff skills and efficiency.
  • Ensure all employees comply with provincial licensing requirements and industry regulations.

Customer Experience & Service Quality

  • Maintain exceptional service quality by overseeing spa operations, client interactions, and employee performance.
  • Handle customer relations, ensuring any complaints or concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure the spa provides a luxurious, clean, and welcoming environment for clients.
  • Implement customer retention and loyalty programs to enhance client engagement.

Marketing & Brand Development

  • Oversee the setup and management of the spa's online presence, including its website, social media, and digital marketing channels.
  • Coordinate with designers and marketers to ensure consistent branding and high-quality content across all platforms.
  • Develop and implement promotional campaigns, seasonal offers, and membership programs to drive client engagement and bookings.
  • Manage online reputation, ensuring that the spa maintains positive client reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, and social media.
  • Track and analyze marketing performance metrics, adjusting strategies to maximize reach and client acquisition.
  • Collaborate with local influencers, beauty bloggers, and community groups to enhance brand awareness.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Work closely with the owner to develop and manage the spa's budget, controlling expenses while optimizing revenue streams.
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of beauty products, supplies, and equipment.
  • Implement POS and appointment booking systems to streamline transactions and service scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations in accordance with Manitoba and industry guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in the beauty, wellness, or hospitality industry, with at least 3 years in a senior management or operations role.
  • Proven ability to strategically plan and launch a business, ideally in the spa, salon, or wellness industry.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience hiring and developing teams.
  • Deep understanding of spa services and industry trends, with the ability to perform at least one of the services offered at SSS (e.g., manicures, pedicures, facials, sugaring, eyelash extensions).
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with high-end clientele and create a welcoming environment.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, inventory, and revenue optimization.
  • Proficiency in spa management software, POS systems, and appointment scheduling platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to handle challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in business development and brand expansion in the beauty or wellness industry.
  • Licensed or certified in a relevant beauty or wellness field.
  • Hands-on experience in digital marketing and online branding strategies.
  • Knowledge of SEO, content marketing, and paid advertising strategies for service-based businesses.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 CAD Annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
