We have an exciting opportunity for a Director, Merchandising (Accessories) will play a pivotal role in aligning business objectives and optimization merchandising and assortment strategies in partnership with various areas of the business and external stakeholders.
In this role you will:
  • Oversee the day to day of the Merchandising Team, strategizing and executing on the overall direction of the department, while providing guidance, leadership, and training to the team members
  • Support, improve, analyze, and grow the current programs and processes, as well as support the development of business plans around new areas of opportunity, products, and supply channels that will complement and grow our existing sales and merchandising programs while working closely with the VP and SVP
  • Collaborate with Senior Management on developing strategies that support the organization's strategic business plans
  • Work closely and partner with Direct Sourcing, Marketing, eComm, Sales, Operations, Business Development, Finance and Supply Chain Team, to ensure a seamless process flow between departments
  • Support with budgeting, planning, forecasting and driving growth for accessories category
  • Champion growth and maximizing product profitability/margins, directing and establishing pricing, margins and roll down strategies by channel, working closely with Sales and eComm teams
  • Establishment and Develop partnerships with both vendors and internal stakeholders which includes negotiating new and existing vendor agreements and programs and monitoring performance to ensure that profitability and financial targets are met
  • Work collaboratively with senior managers and vendors, to identify and execute introduction of products and categories to add to assortments, based on understanding of customer need, competition and the development of strategies and tactics
  • Lead merchandise rollouts and transition plans by channel and identify execution SOP's, milestones, documentation and communication required to ensure work flow with cross functional teams and timelines are met for product introductions

The Qualifications and Experience we like to see:
  • University/College Degree in Business, Merchandising or related discipline
  • Must have 7-10 years demonstrated experience in merchandising and in leading or managing teams in a corporate retail environment
  • Must have strong understanding of building an assortment architecture, buying and procurement processes; product development and/or manufacturing understanding would be an asset
  • Ability to identify and implement efficiencies within parameters outlined
  • Exceptional project management, interpersonal, communication, organizational, relationship-building, negotiation, analytical, and presentation skills
  • Manage multiple and competing priorities in a fast pace work environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders as well as build and develop strong partnerships
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Business savvy and up to date on current market and industry trends
  • Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint
