Position Summary

The Assistant Site Superintendent is a member of the Field Operations team. He or she provides advanced level support to the Site Superintendent by supervising or taking the lead on scopes of work within a project(s) as defined by the Site Superintendent. In addition, the Assistant Site Superintendent may be required to independently supervise a scope of project that is suitable to the skills, knowledge, and experience expectations of the position. The Assistant Site Superintendent is expected to operate at a higher level than Site Assistants, but may perform similar duties as required.

Essential Responsibilities: The Assistant Site Superintendent will perform all duties as assigned by and under the mentorship of the Site Superintendent. He or she is expected to independently and successfully manage certain projects in relation to their skills, knowledge, experience, and professional development. The Assistant Site Superintendent may work directly with a Project Manager and Project Coordinator as required. In addition, the Assistant Site Superintendent will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Create and manage the project punch list.
  • Consolidate the deficiency list with outstanding punch list items and manage the successful and timely completion of the combined list.
  • Facilitate and minute the foremans meetings.
  • Coordinate trades and communicate with PM/PC as requested by the Site Superintendent.
  • Create and manage a micro schedule as requested by the Site Superintendent.
  • Perform project administrative duties as requested by the Site Superintendent.
  • Supervise and maintain the progress of the project in the Site Superintendents absence; in collaboration with the Project Manager.

Must Have Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in site supervision/management position within a commercial construction environment, with an emphasis tenant fit-outs/leasehold improvements
  • Completion and maintenance of required Ministry of Labour certificates and training including WHIMIS, Fall Arrest, Basics of Supervisor, Occupational Health & Safety Awareness for Supervisors and others as required
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication (written, verbal, non-verbal), and organizational skills
  • Ability grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups (co-workers, clients, subtrades, consultants, etc.)
  • Ability to work productively and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and project team.
