The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Senior UI Designer to join our Online & Digital Creative Team.

Reporting to the Director, User Experience Design, the Senior UI Designer will lead the visual, information and interaction design of user interfaces and components across multiple business lines for web, mobile apps and other interactive media. This role will also have primary responsibility over unifying our design systems and defining best practice for how we leverage a design system cross-functionally in the organization. Your solid understanding of the psychology of interface and information design will enable you to create seamless, intuitive solutions that deliver on user and business objectives.

This role is an integral part of the team of UI Designers, UX Designers and Product Designers and is responsible for creating and executing user interface solutions, being an advocate for user-centered design within the company and with our partners, as well as maintaining visual, interactive and brand continuity.

What your day looks like:

  • Create user interface screens, components and solutions for web and mobile apps collaboratively as a part of a multi­disciplinary team in a fast-paced, Agile environment to meet complex business requirements and user needs
  • Unify and maintain our Design Systems and shared interactive component libraries, and reinforce design guidelines, best practices, and standards
  • Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, mocks and prototypes that can be tested and analyzed to formulate a clear rationale behind design decisions to be shared with stakeholders
  • Take ownership over existing and new UIs and evaluate them on an ongoing basis to bring your own ideas of improvements and opportunities to the business teams
  • Follow an iterative design process that includes accepting, managing and providing feedback
  • Advocate for user-centered design within the organization, demonstrate the value and ROI of UX, and mentor other designers

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • 6 - 8+ years of design experience as a key member of a UI, UX design team
  • Excellent UI design skills, high standards, and the ability to articulate a rationale for all design decisions
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in mobile and responsive design
  • Experience producing interactive prototypes for usability testing
  • Strong working knowledge of Figma and Miro or similar
  • Awareness of accessibility, WCAG and AODA, as well as contemporary inclusive design standards
  • Experience working in a lean, Agile process and the ability to combine user goals and business goals to define an iterative approach to a viable solution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information to diverse audiences
  • An online portfolio of previous and current work demonstrating various successful projects is preferred
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and can handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload
  • Familiarity with the investment or financial services industries is an asset
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Computer Interaction or Graphic/Digital Design is an asset
  • Fluent communication in English is required, bilingual in French is an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $105,000 - $115,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
