We want to do great things; we need your help As our new Senior Environmental Planner, you'll oversee and manage the entire environmental assessment process, starting with planning through approval. Working with a team of both junior and senior planners, your efforts will have a substantial impact on the progress and quality of major projects. We are currently engaged in exciting, transformative projects in the GTA with major clients including Metrolinx and the TTC. Your work will ensure approval of these projects, and allow for safe and effective implementation. You'll be joining a new and growing group of environmental planners who are supporting our major projects, in addition to smaller contracts. You'll be an essential part of this group as we assemble a critical mass of planners; as you mentor junior planners and coordinate the activities of the group, you'll have a major impact on its success. Technically speaking, your role will involve assessing both sites and designs for legislative compliance. One of the key challenges will involve adapting and accommodating the assessment process through various iterations; as our work changes in scope, you'll need to be ready to adjust and revise plans according to new circumstances. Your tasks will include: * Maintain regular contact with clients and provide accurate updates/reports in non-specialist terms * Oversee the activity of junior planners, both in office and remotely * Lead the environmental assessment process and manage related schedules and budgets * Attend project meetings and provide technical expertise for clients, other planners/engineers, and management * Draft environmental assessment reports and other documents, including drawings/graphics * Liaise with regulatory agencies, clients and other consultants * Coordinate and manage work of subconsultants in terms of both project management and finance * Provide consultation services to internal and external stakeholders, including public, residents, local government, etc. * Support business development functions (proposal writing etc.) * Manage environmental mitigation and reports through planning, design, contract specifications, and construction Working with Gannett Fleming With 40 offices across North America, and a team comprised of 2500 employees globally, Gannett Fleming has a far-reaching impact in the industry. There will be some local travel involved in this role, largely for attendance in stakeholder meetings. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in environment management/planning or a related discipline * Comprehensive knowledge of relevant EA Ontario/Federal legislation, including but not limited to: Class EA process (Municipal, GO Transit, MTO) and the Transit Project Assessment Process * 10+ years' experience in environmental assessment/planning, including experience with road/transit/rail projects * Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to noise, cultural heritage, air quality, land use, species at risk, etc. and permitting/approvals * Experience with environmental management and compliance as it relates to the planning, design and construction of infrastructure, including environmental specifications * Knowledge of and experience with project management fundamentals including cost control, scope management, and scheduling * Proficiency with MS Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) * Familiarity with geospatial mapping tools and software would be an asset How to Apply Please submit your application online, via the Fitzii platform.
