About The Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll and Benefit Administrator/Coordinator to join our HR team to support our team members. The successful candidate will support the Payroll Manager in managing payroll processes, administering employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with relevant provincial and federal regulations. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of payroll systems, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Support: Assist the Payroll Manager in processing bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes, with a focus on automotive industry-specific pay structures.
  • Benefits Administration: Support the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other company-sponsored benefits tailored to the automotive sector.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with Ontario's Employment Standards Act (ESA) and federal payroll, wage, and hour laws. Stay updated on changes to regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate payroll and benefits records, including employee files, payroll reports, and benefits documentation.
  • Employee Support: Address employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits, providing timely and accurate information.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing and distributing payroll and benefits reports to management as needed.
  • System Management: Utilize payroll and HRIS systems to process payroll and manage benefits enrollment and changes.
  • Audits: Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll and benefits.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance payroll and benefits administration efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration, preferably within the automotive industry.

Skills

  • Proficiency in payroll software and HRIS systems. (HR4 and ADP)
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario's Employment Standards Act (ESA) and federal payroll regulations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Payroll (e.g., CPP) and/or Benefits Administration (e.g., CEBS).
  • Experience with ADP and Reynolds/Reynolds
  • Familiarity with automotive industry-specific payroll practices and regulations.
