We are seeking a Manager, Accounting & Reporting to join our clients Finance team, providing crucial support to senior finance leadership and other departments by delivering accurate financial analysis and reports to facilitate informed decision-making across the organization. A key responsibility of this role will be the preparation of GAAP-compliant internal and external financial reporting for their various entities. The Manager will also support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting analytics, working closely with Finance and other internal teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and implement GAAP accounting standards through clear documentation and analysis.
  • Oversee the accurate recording of revenue transactions, reconciliations, and other key accounting activities.
  • Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for reporting entities, ensuring GAAP compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of GAAP-compliant regulatory reports and filings.
  • Contribute to the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) process to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborate with managers across departments to achieve shared financial and operational goals.
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and the annual financial statement audit with external auditors.
  • Prepare comprehensive year-end audit working papers.
  • Analyze and report on variances between actual financial results and budgeted/forecasted figures, with a focus on efficiency metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain documentation of accounting procedures and policies, including ERP and other financial processes.
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, including preparing journal entries, reviewing account reconciliations, and providing support.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement within the accounting and reporting functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Accounting is essential.
  • Completion of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA).
  • MBA or other relevant business accreditation is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP – current and future requirements.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis.
  • Exposure to a large accounting firm is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of public company reporting requirements.
  • Solid understanding of audit principles and experience with the audit process.
  • ERP system working knowledge is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-organized with effective time management skills.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software applications.
  • Capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet established deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail in all aspects of work.
