Position Summary
As a member of the Clinical Team, the Education and Administrative assistant will be responsible for the coordination of medical, clinical, non-clinical and allied student placements within the organization. In addition to supporting clinical leaders in the Patient Care Clinical portfolios. The successful candidate will support and coordinate student orientation in collaboration with the professional practice learning specialists, administer and oversee the corporate education fund and maintain records. They will also support, patient focused care through the coordination of administrative functions. Ensures the delivery of seamless customer service both within and external to the programs and is a key contact and resource person for information of a highly sensitive and confidential nature. The role requires considerable multi-tasking and creative problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience
- Two year Community College diploma in Business or Office Administration (medical preferred) or equivalent combination of education may be considered
- Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course, or demonstrated relevant, recent experience
- Participates in ongoing upgrading of computer skills
- Minimum two years office administration experience (healthcare), preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in hospital computer software, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Accurate keyboarding and dicta-typing skills at a minimum of 50 words per minimum
- Demonstrated ability in prioritizing tasks, problem-solving, attending to detail, self-organizing and organizing others, self-motivating and adapting in relation to a variety of activities
- Demonstrated aptitude in gathering and interpreting information by telephone.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and tact in dealing with patients and customers in a variety of sensitive and confidential situations
- Ability to work in a busy office environment with many interruptions and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and professionalism
- Good attendance and availability required
