Location: Ontario preferred (Remote/Hybrid)
Industry: Building Materials / Commodity Lumber
Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000 base + bonus potential
Are you a tenacious, sales-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment?
Our client is expanding its Forest Products Trading Division and is seeking a motivated Lumber Trader to drive direct truckload business across Canada. This role is ideal for someone with strong LBM industry knowledge, a hunter mentality, and a thick skin for the highs and lows of commodity trading.
About the Role:
As a Lumber Trader, you'll be responsible for sourcing and selling truckload volumes of OSB, plywood, and dimension lumber direct from mills to a national network of independent dealers. You'll also support regional distribution centers as internal customers by identifying product gaps and offering sourcing solutions.
You won't need to manage mill relationships—that's handled centrally. Your focus will be on outbound sales, growing dealer relationships, and closing deals. If you're energized by the thrill of the trade and have the grit to push through daily rejection, this role is for you.
What You'll Do:
- Buy and sell direct truckload volumes of lumber products to dealers and distribution centers
- Drive outbound sales activity—this is not a desk-warming role
- Build strong relationships with customers and develop repeat business
- Contribute to a growing trading division focused on specialization and national reach
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership and peers to support sourcing strategy
- 3+ years of sales or trading experience in lumber or building materials
- Experience working at or selling into a lumber yard, contractor desk, or similar environment
- Hunter sales mentality—proactive, relentless, and self-motivated
- Strong communication skills and thick skin for rejection-based sales
- Willingness to travel occasionally (< 10%) for trade shows, events, and customer meetings
- Competitive base salary of $90,000 – $110,000 (dependent on experience) + Bonus
- Vacation, Benefits, RRSP Matching
- Career development opportunities in trading, procurement, and leadership
- A collaborative, values-driven culture where your voice matters
Apply today and be part of a team that's reshaping how independent dealers access commodity lumber across Canada.
