We're Kelly's Bake Shoppe (http://kellysxo.com/) in downtown Burlington, Ontario, ranked #3 on Buzzfeed's list of “Top Cupcake Shops to visit in the World before you Die”, and thanks to a thriving, expanding business, we're looking for a Senior Skilled Bakers with a strong production background to join our team. We're looking for candidates to grow with us at Kelly's. We have big plans of expansion and development in 2019, and we are now working to amass our team to grow with us on this wonderful journey. Skilled Baker Role You're a successful baker or maybe a skilled home baker who has mastered the methods of conventional baking – at Kelly's you can use that expertise and also widen your repertoire of ingredients and techniques. We bake with whole bean flour, sweet potato puree, organic sugars, and a whole range of healthy, vegan alternatives. That gives our bakery staff the chance to expand their baking knowledge and repertoire and to feel great about serving nutritionally dense, good-for-you and good-for-the-planet food. These are in demand skills and Kelly's could be the place you learned them all. You'll work with our amazing team of bakers to ever high heights of achievement –thrilling our customers with exceptional quality every time. Every cupcake, mile high brownie, and skinny cookie that leaves the bakery for the store front needs to taste amazing and look like a million bucks. Even more than that, it needs to ooze with goodness and love. Our team make that happen. We are a very busy Bake Shoppe, with 12,000 people a week coming through our doors. Be prepared for a fast-paced environment, and lots of production. We're talking a couple thousand pieces a day kind of production. Working with Kelly's Kelly's Bake Shoppe was started by mother and daughter team, Kelly and Erinn, from their shared love for delicious baking with healthy ingredients. The bakery is a busy place and the days fly by as we delight our customers. Qualifications Great Bakers have passion you can taste in the food and magic to keep everything running smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, happy demeanor, problem solving skills, and able to work efficiently. This person is expected to have great organizational and time management skills, and as an added bonus, will have additional background in customer service. Specifically, we think that a Baker has these qualifications: * Demonstrated belief in and commitment to positive, healthy food, lifestyle and planet (not that you've never had a bad day but you're on a positive journey) * Experience working in a commercial bakery or food establishment * Experience with organic, vegan, peanut free and gluten free baking is useful but not essential * Stamina and availability to work approximately 40-44 hours per week(if applying for full time) – Monday to Sunday (with 2 days off of course!) * Physical ability to work standing for several hours at a time; reach, bend, stoop; and frequently lift up to 50 pounds * Able to follow recipes * Ability to take and follow direction easily * Team player and able to work independently * Passion for baking is a must * Able to work efficiently and effectively. Our business volumes are very high! * Responsible for proper storage, labeling and use of all food supplies to prevent unnecessary spoilage and to maintain cost control * Ensure overall cleanliness and health standards are being met If that describes you, it's time to apply!
