The Opportunity

The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving improvements in quality and serviceability for SKYTRAC products through their full lifecycle. This includes creating and using monitoring systems to ensure our design work progresses in line with our AS9100 quality system, and working with the design, service, and quality teams to reduce returns and improve overall quality.

This position is located in-office in Kelowna.

You will:

Work closely with design teams to ensure design and validation documentation meets or exceeds our internal AS9100 Quality processes, the product specific certification requirements (DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254) and/or customer requirements

Attend design review meetings

Software quality assurance audits to customer and DO-178C requirements

Drive continuous improvement of existing processes and actions to reduce returns by understanding and improving key quality drivers, such as improve design and/or optimize diagnosis processes

Drive/lead Root Cause and Correct Action (RCCA), Failure Analysis (FA) processes

Liaison with key stakeholders in the product design process; including but not limited to technical team members (hardware, embedded software, systems), production, quality, design approval representatives, Transport Canada, customers, program managers, sub-contractors, etc.

Participate in compliance testing activities (DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254)

Perform Engineering Change Order (ECO) reviews, release ECOs, and track deficiencies and areas for improvement as required

Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) to AS9102 requirements

Provide Service and Sales support as required

Ensure adherence to quality system development processes and standards

Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and internal engineering processes and standards.

Creation of Quality System KPI Reports

Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

Candidate Must Have's

Engineering Degree from an accredited University (Aerospace, Avionics, Computer or Electrical) or equivalent industry experience

Technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary project teams

Demonstrated technical and creative problem-solving skills

Minimum 2 years' DO-178C Software Quality Assurance (SQA) experience

This position is for an existing vacancy within our Quality Assurance team, and will remain open until filled.

The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $70,000 CAD. The range posted is a guide and may not represent the compensation offered to the successful candidate. Compensation is based on the skills, knowledge, experience, and qualifications brought to the role.
