The Electrodeposition (E-Coat) Paint Process Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the e-coat painting process, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and adherence to environmental and safety standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, improvement, and optimization of the electrodeposition (e-coat) paint process to ensure high-quality finishes, maximum efficiency, and minimal waste.

  • Assist in the development and oversight of process parameters within Manufacturing 4.0, with a focus on maintaining operations within optimal performance standards (run in the white)

  • Monitor the e-coat paint process for deviations in paint quality
  • Troubleshoot any process anomalies and implement corrective actions to maintain smooth operations.
  • Review the maintenance and cleanliness of paint racks, ensuring they are free from contaminants, build-up, and defects. Implement regular cleaning schedules and inspect racks for wear and tear, addressing any issues proactively to avoid production delays. Ensure associates completing maintenance activities are properly trained and adhere to the appropriate work instructions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a preventive maintenance schedule for all e-coat process equipment, including paint tanks, racks, and strip tanks, to minimize downtime and extend the life of critical assets.
  • Create and maintain E-Coat Process Planning Sheets (EPPS) for all new and existing product.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, and quality control) to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to generate accurate cost estimates for the e-coat process, including estimates for custom racks, material specifications, design adjustments, and configurations, while ensuring all designs comply with Marwood's building standards.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to ensure paint racks are thoroughly reviewed, meet all specifications, and are approved (bought off) for production.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any deviations or non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions when necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support for e-coat-related issues such as coating defects, process interruptions, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure the proper functioning of e-coat lines and support maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in the electrocoating industry.
  • Work with the engineering and product development teams to integrate new materials, processes, and technologies into production, enhancing product quality and process efficiency.
  • Ensure the e-coat process is in full compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, including handling chemicals, waste disposal, and air quality.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for safety and ensure the team follows all standard operating procedures (MOSs and TWIs) for equipment and chemical handling.
  • All other duties as required

Key Requirements:

  • Grade 12, GED, or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, or a Recognized Certificate of Qualification in a recognized trade of the College of trades Ontario or related field is an Asset. Alternatively, equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience working with electrodeposition (e-coat) or related coating processes, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience with paint systems, coating technologies, and industrial equipment.
  • Relevant certifications in electrocoating or coatings technology are a plus (e.g., , SSPC, AMPP).
