Overview
Under the general direction of the Clinical Nurse manager, the Clinical Supervisor is a member of the unit managerial team and assists that Nurse Manager in providing continuity of operational management and patient care management of a specified unit/service. The Clinical Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who has successfully completed the unit and department nursing competencies with a comprehensive understanding and competent skill level in patient care principles and evaluation of work performance to assure effective behavior in this leadership role. The Clinical Nursing Supervisor exhibits behaviors that enhance professional development, critical thinking and performance that reflect the key moral commitment, ethical principles, values and philosophy of Confluence Health. Promotes staff productivity through a defined care delivery system, and facilitation of the professional practice model and governance structure.

Responsibilities
- Provides supervision of staff assigned to the unit for patient care and serves as a liaison between the manager and director for the staff.
- Provides time and attendance review, editing and approving timecards within the cycle of pay periods for staff.
- Collaborates with the Director/Clinical Manager to determine staffing needs for the department. Prepares schedule of work assignments.
- Assists Clinical Manager with updating/creating unit specific policies. Collaborates with the Manager, Director, staff, and Charge RNs to develop and maintain standards of nursing care, updates staff on accepted standards, and monitors compliance.
- Participates in improvement projects focused on achievement of annual goals and ensure implementation of and adherence to improvement changes, leads tests of change (pdsa cycles).
- Participates in activities related to the patient experience, conducting patient rounding and responding to issues to resolve in a timely manner.
- Assists Manager and Director with annual budget development and management to assist/assures cost effective daily operations and allocation of department resources; participate in weekend on call rotation with the leadership team if requested.
- Assists manager in review of quality data, addresses variances and issues, gathers, and reports information on specific events in RL Datix.
- Assists with ongoing survey readiness on the unit; helps to gather data to support this effort as needed.
- Provides input to clinical manager for staff evaluations.
- Provides coaching, counseling to staff to facilitate safe and effective patient care, participates in progressive disciplinary meetings.
- Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital/Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards.
- Maintains required certifications specific to work unit (BLS, NRP, PALS).
- Demonstrates communication and interpersonal interactions in accordance with Confluence Health's Code of Conduct.
- Participates in Daisy award and other staff recognition strategies to promote staff satisfaction.
- Acts as a clinical resource to Materials Management (Product Review Committee) as needed.
- Assist with research and analysis of institutional reports, plans and programs as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
- Current licensure in the state of Washington (RCW 18.88) or licensure through Multistate Nurse Licensure Compact (SSB 5499).
- 4 years' experience in related clinical setting.
- National certification required for clinical specialty within 3 years of hire.
Desired:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- National Certification in clinical area.
