The role of the Operator is to ensure the safe and efficient startup-up, testing and performance verification of all platform systems, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process equipment. The Operator works closely with engineering teams, contractors, and other operational staff to ensure the platform is ready for safe and effective production operations.
- Perform commissioning checks and ensure all equipment and systems are ready for commissioning;
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues, identify root cause and develop proper resolution;
- Following operating and commissioning procedures as required;
- Responsible for starting up and shutting down platform under normal conditions as well as under emergency conditions including timely notifications as required;
- Proficiency in reading and understanding Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Loop Diagrams etc.
- Ability to make decisions on all normal, abnormal and emergency related operating situations as required;
- Responsible for adherence to established standards, practices and procedures;
- Provide detailed and comprehensive reports as required by operations and existing conditions and produce effective shift turnover notes;
- Participate in system walk downs and punch listing to ensure installation is per design and reflects piping and instrument diagrams;
- Issue safe work permits including effective communication of all requirements to the permit receiver;
- Proficiency in Lock out Tag Out to de-energize equipment making it safe for work required under Safe Work Permit.
- Operate platform equipment such as pumps, compressors, generators, and other machinery to verify performance and address any operational issues;
- Responsible for daily housekeeping duties, testing and data collection;
- Participate in all start-up activities according to the implementation plans, schedules and budget.
- Physically able to Open/Close various size valves repeatedly as required for testing
- 4th Class Power Engineering Certification or higher; Or
- Process Technology certification;
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in commissioning and start-up in a plant setting;
