We're a Scarborough-based company that designs and manufactures centrifugal clutches for power transmissions through custom machining. Our products go into machinery used in water treatment plants, mining, wind machines and truck refrigeration, and more. We've been in business since 1932 – that's 87 years of exceptional quality for our customers, and stability for our employees. Now, due to growth, we're looking for a new manual lathe machinist to join our team – will that be you? Machinist (Manual Lathe) Your primary goal in this role is to operate manual lathe machines to custom manufacture centrifugal clutches. As an experienced machinist, you'll know how to safely and accurately operate machines to complete your work efficiently. You're an expert at reading and interpreting shop drawings and will update and record information on drawings as needed during the production process. You're careful and have a strong attention to detail – the quality of your work matters to you. You'll be responsible for performing regular quality checks on your products to ensure they're up to our customers' standards, and your own. At the end of each shift, you'll perform daily maintenance by cleaning and oiling your machine. Welding experience would be a major asset, so you can also perform maintenance welding. Finding the right fit is important for us. You're the right person for this job because: * You're a team player – you're helpful by nature and are always looking around to see how you can contribute and support your team. * You're proactive – you look for ways to improve production and make it more efficient. You bring your ideas forward respectfully. * You value results - you can keep up with production goals in our busy environment. You take pride in achieving a high out-put, while never letting quality slip. The Details This is a full-time, permanent role working in our plant in Scarborough, just west of Markham Road, south of the 401. You'll work Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:15 pm. Generally, you'll work 44 hours per week, and occasionally you may need to work an evening or weekend shift. We're a busy shop and there is overtime available. You'll be paid between $18 and $22 per hour, depending on your experience and qualifications. You'll also have access to benefits like: a health savings account, RRSP plan, annual bonuses, and an education fund that provides a scholarship for children/grandchildren going to university or college. We recognize your birthday with a cake and celebrate other major life events when they happen. We spend time together with regular barbecues and a Christmas luncheon.
