THE ROLE

We are partnering with a well-respected litigation boutique with a national presence and deep expertise in insurance, class actions, and health law. With offices in both Vancouver and Toronto, this firm is known for its collaborative culture and high-caliber legal work across multiple jurisdictions. We are recruiting for a Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant to join their growing Toronto office. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced litigators who appear before courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Youll be part of a supportive team environment where learning, initiative, and reliability are highly valued. This is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow their legal support career, this position will allow you to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic legal setting with exposure to complex litigation files and national practice standards.

Responsibilities:

Manage legal administrative tasks throughout the entire file lifecyclefrom opening to final closing.

Prepare and format legal documents, including pleadings, application records, books of authorities, and materials for appeals.

Draft and review routine correspondence with clarity and professionalism.

Handle electronic and physical court filings in compliance with procedural rules.

Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other stakeholders in a courteous and timely manner.

Track and manage critical deadlines, including limitation and bring-forward dates, to ensure timely action on all files.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of general office experience; prior work in a legal setting is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting insurance defence litigation or a related practice area.
  • Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate (or equivalent training).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines under pressure, and maintain a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word; familiarity with legal practice management systems is an asset.
  • Understanding of BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and the ability to interpret legislation and procedural guidelines.
  • Experience with ProLaw software is considered an advantage.
