At Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire change, build connection, and amplify our mission to bring nature back to childhood. Our nature play spaces are thoughtfully designed to spark creativity, promote self-regulation, and foster child-led development. Now, were looking for a passionate and creative Storyteller to help us bring these stories to life.

Position Overview

As our Storyteller/Copywriter, you'll report to the Director of Marketing, and craft emotionally engaging, purpose-driven narratives that resonate with our target audiences. Youll work closely with the Director of Marketing and cross-functional teams to develop compelling, multimedia-rich content across social media, web, email, video, print and more. Your words will shape how people see us, feel about us, and ultimately, support the movement to connect children to nature.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation

  • Craft compelling stories that reflect our mission, vision, and valuestailored for diverse audiences and platforms.
  • Write clear, engaging, and strategic content including blog posts, emails/newsletters, social media captions, video scripts, case studies, internal communications, press releases, product descriptions, website copy, and more.
  • Proofread and edit marketing materials for grammar, clarity, tone, and effectiveness.
  • Manage and evolve the brand voice across all channels, ensuring consistency in tone, language, and storytelling style.

Audience Engagement & Partnerships

  • Actively engage with our audiencelisten to feedback, adapt storytelling strategies based on insights, and foster a sense of community and connection.
  • Act as a brand ambassador through digital platforms, media partnerships, and guest contributions (e.g., blog sites, podcasts, webinars).

Strategy & Performance

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop cohesive content strategies and creative campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including influencers and media outlets, to expand the companys reach.
  • Continuously seek out new and innovative ways to tell the companys story across all channels.
  • Track and report on storytelling initiatives, offering insights and recommendations for continued growth and engagement.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Elevate internal and external communications by translating complex ideas into relatable, emotionally resonant messages.
  • Support media outreach by writing pitches and coordinating feature stories that highlight our team, clients, and community impact.
  • Collaborate with videographers and designers to pair strong narratives with supporting visuals.

Research & Recognition

  • Conduct research and gather relevant insights, data, and background information to inform storytelling and campaign development.
  • Source and develop stories from across the organizationincluding project features, team interviews, customer testimonials, and community impact.
  • Research and prepare industry award submissions that showcase the quality and innovation of our work.
  • Manage and maintain the companys digital content library, ensuring all assets are organized and easily accessible.

Qualifications

  • Creative storytellerwith an eye for detail and a love for words.
  • Proven experience in storytelling, content creation, copywriting, or digital communications.
  • Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and writing skills.
  • A portfolio that showcases a variety of writing stylesespecially with a marketing, education, or social impact focus.
  • Ability to adapt tone and messaging across platforms and audiences.
  • Familiarity with storytelling across formatsvideo, press releases, websites, email
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage content libraries, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience using digital content tools (Google Workspace, Canva, CRM platforms, analytics dashboards)
  • A self-starter with a collaborative spirit and a genuine love of nature andlearning.
  • Nice to have: Experience working with or writing for nature-based education, environmental education, nonprofits, or play-based learning
