About the Role:

Reporting

The Shipper reports to the Senior Materials Manager.

Key Performance Indicators / Duties & Responsibilities

  • Comparing picked goods to the relevant documents, ensuring that the intended materials get packaged for outbound shipment.
  • Working with external carriers and freight forwarders to quote, book, and schedule shipments.
  • Documenting shipping items using mobile software and ensuring accurate record keeping.
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders with logistics plans.
  • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons using stenciling equipment.
  • Packaging material to ensure that goods do not get damaged during transportation.
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers. Insert items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding, while documenting all outbound material.
  • Ensuring all work is accomplished following company processes.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications and that the company remains compliant with national and international regulations.
  • Assist the Shipping Supervisor with managing shipping materials and supplies, including reordering as needed.
  • Assist the Shipping Supervisor with cross-training other team members on shipping processes.
  • Assist internal stakeholders with process improvement initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned by company management.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
  • Logistics knowledge is an asset.
  • A forklift license is an asset.
  • Dangerous Good Training is an asset.
  • Grade 12 education.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of previous logistics experience.
  • Previous aviation experience is considered an asset.
