Position Summary
As an Intermediate Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting and financial reporting duties that support the organizations financial health. You will work closely with the Finance Team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient accounting processes. This role is ideal for an individual who is looking for stability and professional development within a structured finance team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, comments on financial results, and cash flow statements for Senior Management.
- Prepare month end supporting schedules for the financial statements.
- Review and reconcile accounts within the accounting system.
- Assist in the preparation of spreadsheet and reconciliation reports for banking institutions and auditors.
- Assist in providing support for external auditors as requested.
- Update and maintain the cash flow report as requested.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and post related month-end journal entries.
- Record fixed asset purchases and disposals, ensuring accurate month-end depreciation entries.
- Review accounting records for accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Qualifications
- Degree in business or related field with a professional accounting designation preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum of 35 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently as well as play a role within a cohesive team of professionals
- Extensive knowledge of financial reporting and budgeting especially as it pertains to financial performance measurement
- Experience with GST, PST, and other tax filings.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relationships across a multitude of business
