The manager, Strategy is responsible for providing subject matter expertise, advice and leadership on a number of initiatives that will strengthen relationships and improve programs and services with Indigenous people as well as equity deserving groups in the Thames Valley region. A major focus of this role will be to lead the implementation of the First Nations, Inuit, Metis and Urban Indigenous Health and Wellness Reconciliation Action Plan, as well as the Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Strategy for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
This role also supports the overall cultural health of the organization to strengthen an inclusive environment where all employees, volunteers, students, clients and partners feel valued, heard, and empowered.
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
- What you'll be making - $44.02 - $46.66 per hour (Manager Grid).
- The above are initial rates; with grid increases as per policy
- Internal staff members will be placed on the appropriate grid based on their current rate of pay, up to Level 8 of the grid (see Intranet Policy - http://bit.ly/CompensationPolicyPg16)
- When you'll work - 70 hours over two-week period. Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
- What your benefits will be - After a 90-day waiting period, will be enrolled in health care benefits plan
- Your pension plan - Immediately enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
Strategic Planning:
- Support the Director, Strategy in providing leadership to ensure projects related to supporting First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous priorities are implemented and ensure the establishment of a culturally appropriate approach to address the needs of families and individuals when accessing CMHA Thames Valley Mental Health and Addictions (CMHA TVAMHS) programs and services.
- Support the Director, Strategy on matters of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and reconciliation and collaborate across all departments to create a welcoming and respectful environment.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders, partners, and the community that enhance program and service delivery.
- Resolve issues by providing innovative, creative and integrated solutions that will achieve quality improvements and improve outcomes that are grounded in DEI and reconciliation best and promising practices.
- In collaboration with the Director, Strategy, establish the CMHA TVAMHS brand and reputation as a regional leader in DEI and reconciliation.
- Work collaboratively across the CMHA TVAMHS service area to support processes and advance initiatives to identify and remove systemic barriers within the organization, its programs, and operations.
- Implement projects, activities, strategies, and approaches to advance an inclusive and equitable culture that results in organizational equity outcomes.
- Participate in initiatives and projects at all levels regarding reconciliation efforts by the organization
- Participate in initiatives and projects at all levels regarding DEI issues impacting the organization.
- Facilitate discussions on difficult and complex issues.
- Support programs and services in developing metrics and reporting approaches to measure performance and success of DEI initiatives and to ensure the organization succeeds in delivering on its agreed-upon outcome measures.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating project-related strategies and initiatives that span the organization.
- Support the development, implementation and monitoring of the First Nations, Inuit, Metis and Urban Indigenous Health and Wellness Reconciliation Action Plan, as well as the Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Strategy for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of work from start to finish, applying subject matter expertise to produce comprehensive solutions to complex operational and/or systems issues.
- Support the incorporation of cultural values, understanding, and perspectives into program design and implementation
- Conduct environmental scans, studies, planning sessions and reviews to collect information on trends, developments, best practices, and innovations which will assist leadership decision-making and planning activities.
- As requested, ensure that existing and emerging policies and programs align with relevant strategies and reflect the diverse needs of the communities served by the organization.
- Review, provide insight and make recommendations on regional initiatives, ensuring diverse community needs are met.
- Support the Director, Strategy to conceptualize and implement DEI and Indigenous projects.
- Work with teams throughout the organization on the development of project management plans specific to DEI initiatives and Indigenous projects.
- Resolve issues by providing innovative, creative and integrated solutions.
- While managing projects, work independently while ensuring the Director, Strategy, is connected to the work.
- Responsible for meeting objectives and achieving long-term results in all areas of responsibility.
- Build relationships with subject matter experts; collaborate and partner to ensure approaches are inclusive and equitable.
- Participate in DEI and reconciliation working groups, communities of interest/practices, and community initiatives and events that enhance the understanding, alignment, and advancement of best, wise, or promising practices.
- Represent the organization at First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous and DEI related meetings, events, gatherings, as appropriate.
- Communicate organizational updates to community stakeholders, as needed.
- Maintain effective relationships and partnerships with the public, government officials and other community partners.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

We require the following qualifications:
- A combination of education, training, and significant experience in developing and implementing belonging, equity, and diversity programs is required. This may include completion of a degree or specialized education in a related subject (for example, social science, sociology, cultural studies, anthropology, social work, or Indigenous Studies (primary proof of education will be required within one month of employment)
- Must possess deep experience in the work and demonstrated experience advancing reconciliation and DEI initiatives within a complex organization
- Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties
- Proof of current Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
- Minimum three years of progressive, related experience, including program development, strategy definition, and experience leading change / change management initiatives
- Must be able to demonstrate administrative and project management skills
- Lived experience of encountering and addressing complex DEI and human rights issues is strongly preferred.
- Experience with people-facing issues of addiction and/or mental health concerns
- Familiarity with Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action as well as other relevant documents specific to Indigenous title and rights
- Advanced knowledge of anti-oppression, DEI, anti-racism, and accessibility, framworks including the ability to proactively identify challenges and opportunities related to these areas of expertise to support future planning and strategy.
