About the Role:
Tonic Bar operates as a multifunctional concept offering smoothies, coffee, and grab-and-go options, Tonic House, located at The Well, extends the Tonic Bar menu with a dedicated attendant, providing a workspace and serving cocktails and snacks into the night. Tonic Bar and Tonic House play a crucial role in realizing our mission to elevate fitness and wellness in Canada.
We're seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Tonic Bar Kitchen Production Lead who is passionate about food, health, and wellness, and driven to support the growth of Sweat and Tonic. In this role, you'll lead by example—upholding the highest standards of execution to ensure every menu item reflects our commitment to quality, consistency, and care. Your leadership will directly shape the guest experience through thoughtfully prepared offerings that fuel movement, recovery, and connection. You'll oversee daily kitchen operations including prep, dishwashing, and delivery for both Tonic Bar and Tonic House. You'll be responsible for managing the production schedule, coordinating inventory and ordering, and ensuring food safety, freshness, and consistency across all menu items. This is a highly physical, hands-on role that demands stamina, efficiency, and strong leadership. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, lead with clarity and calm, and bring out the best in your team—no matter how busy the day gets.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the Food & Beverage Manager in overseeing all daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, scheduling and task delegation.
- Consistently model exceptional leadership, creating a positive work environment, coaching team members, and demonstrating a dedicated and professional approach to team management.
- Foster a positive workplace, encouraging dialogue and communication among team members.
- Preparation, production and execution of menu items and food quality standards according to detailed recipes and instructions
- Operation and maintenance of dishwashing unit and dish-cleaning areas
- Receiving and storage of deliveries as related to the production kitchen and cafe
- Effective storage, management, and rotation (FIFO) of all products
- Cleaning, sanitation and maintenance of kitchen equipment and food production spaces
- Strict adherence to company, municipal and provincial guidelines as they are related to food safety and safe workplace environments
- Manage inventory, including procurement and tracking of all food, beverage, and other goods for use or sale.
- Ensure daily communication, and shift brief between the AM & PM teams.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of kitchen experience, in a commissary or production setting
- Minimum of 1 year of kitchen experience, preferably with leadership or supervisory responsibilities
- Strong working knowledge of cooking techniques, prep workflows, and sanitation best practices
- Demonstrated understanding of food safety and public health guidelines
- Proven ability to lead a team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while meeting tight production deadlines
- Excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Clear and respectful communication style with a collaborative team approach
- Physically able to work on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (Work Permit required if applicable)
- Valid Food Handlers Certification
The successful candidate will have flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands
Compensation and Benefits:
- $21-23 / hour based on experience
