OCL Group Inc., is proudly 100% Canadian owned and operated. We are a privately held, employee-owned, fully integrated general contractor with design-build solutions across Western Canada. We have been serving the energy and municipal infrastructure markets since 2009.
The formation of OCL was a direct result of a few long-tenured industry professionals with entrepreneurial spirits, wanting to get back to their roots and build an organization where people matter. The Role
We are currently recruiting for experienced Mechanical General Foreman for the ITA1 Project at Kearl Lake, a major oil sands site in Northern Alberta. The successful candidates will oversee and coordinate day-to-day activities for civil and mechanical scopes of work, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently and in alignment with company and client requirements. You will be working a 14/14 rotation. Camp accommodations and meals provided. Charter flights provided from designated hubs in Edmonton and Calgary.
Compensation/Benefits
- CLAC hourly wages
- Payday is every Friday
- Can hire as a direct employee or as a *Direct Service Provider (DSP).

- Benefits after 300 hours
- Paid training
- 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on regular earnings
- OT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day

*DSP's - hourly wage only plus vehicle and insurance allowance; no overtime, benefits, vacation or stat holiday pay

Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervise and coordinate all civil and mechanical construction activities on site including earthworks, concrete, structural steel, mechanical installations and piping
- Lead field crews, subcontractors and equipment operators ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety protocols
- Plan and organize work schedules ensuring availability of labour, equipment and materials
- Monitor daily progress, track productivity and provide reports site leadership
- Interpret and implement drawings, specifications and project documents
- Enforce and promote a strong safety culture in compliance with all company and client policies
- Identify and resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and quality
- Liaise with project management teams to ensure coordination of efforts
- Maintain proper documentation including daily logs, safety meetings and crew reports
Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 + years Foreman experience leading medium to large scale industrial projects
- Proven OIl & Gas facility experience is highly recommended
- A journeyman level trades background is preferred or equivalent non-ticketed experience.
- Must be able to read and understand construction drawings, ITPs and schedules.
- Good computer skills required. e.g Bluebeam, Excel, Gmail, Google Drive, google calendar. We are a Google based company.
- A demonstrated background in team leadership with a focus on worksite safety.
- Strong construction knowledge to plan and forecast manpower, material and subcontractors.
- Highly effective client relations, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with various stakeholders.
- A natural leader and mentor that isn't afraid to get on the tools when needed to train and lead by example.
- Leadership in Safety Excellence (LSE)
- Other beneficial certificates (H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space)
- Valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
- Comfortable working in remote camp settings with rotational shifts
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Must complete a criminal background check
