Cameray and Child Family Services is looking for a Part-Time (15 hours/week) Child & Family Counselor. The position involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing interventions for clients in the program. It supports clients in identifying, understanding, and addressing personal and family issues, while helping them establish and work toward achieving realistic goals.

Classification: Clinical Counsellor
Reports to: Clinical Coordinator
Hours: 15 hours / week
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducts client interviews, prepares case histories, assesses presenting issues, and provides information on available services. Refers clients to appropriate community resources as needed.
- Develops individualized treatment plans and facilitates individual and/or group counselling sessions.
- Monitors and evaluates client progress, addresses identified issues and works collaboratively with clients to reach defined goals.
- Acts as an advocate and provides ongoing support to clients during their participation in the program.
- Maintains up-to-date, accurate documentation and case notes in accordance with agency standards. Shares relevant case information with therapists, social workers, and other professionals as appropriate.
- Contributes to program evaluation and continuous improvement by offering feedback and suggestions for enhancement to supervisory staff.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of local community resources and actively liaises with external professionals, agencies, and the broader community to support client needs.
- Provides case management services where appropriate, including attending case conferences, team meetings, and collaborating with other service providers.
- Ensures the counselling environment, including play or art therapy rooms, is clean and organized following each session.
- Delivers outreach counselling services when required.
- Participates in Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) and other accreditation-related activities.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in counselling, Social Work or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Training or experience in play and/or art therapy is recommended.
- Specialized training or experience in sexual abuse counselling is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with children and/or youth is required.
- Direct experience in delivering community-based social service programs, with a working knowledge of provincial and local support systems, is preferred.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with a professional body such as BCACC, BCASW, or BCATA is recommended.
