JUNIOR GROUNDWATER MODELER/HYDROGEOLOGIST
Seeking a Junior Groundwater Modeler/JUNIOR GROUNDWATER MODELER/HYDROGEOLOGIST
• An MSc or PhD degree in Hydrogeology or a related discipline, ideally with an emphasis on numerical groundwater modeling.
• A minimum 2 years of experience in groundwater flow & contaminant transport modeling using numerical modelling finite difference and/or finite element software such as GMS, Groundwater Vistas and FEFLOW.
• Some experience in hydrogeological field work, including drilling supervision, monitoring well installation, and hydraulic testing.
• A strong interest in the review and interpretation of a variety of groundwater-related data and information as part of conceptual modeling.
• Experience with developing 3D hydrogeological conceptual models using software packages such as surfer, Leapfrog and EVS.
• Experience with developing and manipulating codes/scripts in Python and FloPy, FORTRAN, or other.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
• The coursework and other credentials required to register as a GIT or EIT with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
The successful applicant will join a team of hydrogeologists led by Dr. Christoph Wels and Dr. Mahmoud Hussein that assists mining companies worldwide in managing mine water issues, including mine de-watering, groundwater impact assessment, seepage control and mitigation.
The successful applicant will be responsible for contributing to hydrogeological projects in Canada and abroad (Australia, Central and South America) and will work closely with our senior groundwater modelers.
This is a challenging position and will require a well-rounded, individual with a willingness to learn and improve their technical abilities as part of the RGC team. You will be required to travel to our domestic or international project sites from time to time. You will also have the opportunity to work from home for part of the week, if preferred.
