- This Accounting Analyst Co-Op role is a fantastic opportunity for students looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in the world of finance and accounting. As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you'll work alongside experienced CPAs and gain exposure to both day-to-day accounting operations and high-impact special projects. This role gives you the chance to apply what you've learned in school to real business challenges, build technical skills, and deepen your understanding of financial reporting and analysis in a dynamic and fast-growing company. You'll also have the unique opportunity to explore how accounting connects to the energy industry—making this a great stepping stone for students interested in finance, sustainability, or both.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the account payables and receivables procedures
- Prepare assigned month end accounting entries, including the supporting calculations and analysis
- Support in the preparation and delivery of monthly reporting
- Assist with the annual budget process and tracking performance against budget
- Assist in analyzing profitability for lines of business and customer projects
- Learn and test new functions in software used by the Accounting & Finance team (e.g. QuickBooks, Journyx, Salesforce)
- Use Power BI tools to turn data into insights and help track financial and operational metrics
- Analyze processes across the company plus recommend and implement improvements
- Complete ad-hoc financial analysis and business projects to support all areas of the business
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled 3rd or 4th year of a 4-year business program and registered in the university's co-op program
- Interested in pursing a career in accounting or finance
- Energetic, self-motivated and curious – you go the extra step to move projects forward and ask lots of questions
- Proven ability to learn new software applications quickly
- Intermediate or higher Excel skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
