Salary: $20 - $24

Title: Youth Care Worker (Weekend Supervisor)

Reports to: Director of Transitional Housing

Based at: Multiple Locations

Pay Range: $20 - $24 based on education and experience

Hours: 14 hours/week (1:00pm to 8:00pm Saturday & Sunday). Flexibility in scheduling required, 3-month probation and review

Supporting Contracts: Ministry of Social Services

Description:

SCPs Weekend Supervisor work closely with the staffing managers to oversee the weekend operations of SCPs youth shelter and peer homes. The role would provide direction and support to a diverse team of weekend staff who are responsible for youth engagement, medication administration, crisis response, crisis management, communication, documentation, and general property upkeep. As the Weekend Supervisor you will be expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP mandated approaches, policies, processes, and protocols in the development & support of SCPs weekend/evening team.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • Secondary completion required (High school diploma or equivalent)
  • Front line youth care experience preferred
  • Preference will be given to applicants with training/experience in
    • Developing, leading and supporting teams
    • Coaching & Development
    • Crisis management
  • Preference will be given to applicants experience in working with
    • Youth with exceptionalities, gang involvement, generational Trauma/PTSD/CPTSD
    • Indigenous populations, vulnerable populations
    • Individuals experiencing current/previous exploitation
    • Individuals managing substance use and/or mental health concerns

Requirements (Skills & Competencies)

  • Valid Drivers License with Driver's Abstract
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Training Certificate
  • Cultural awareness required
  • Demonstrated mastery of official SCP sanctioned approaches (NHA, Youth Centered Care, Harm Reduction, & Trauma Informed Care)
  • Strongly developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, & communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, time management, attention to detail, & accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, & meet deadlines
  • Preference will be given to applicants with CPR/First-Aid, Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention (DPVS), ASIST (Suicide Intervention), & Mental Health First Aid
