Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Planner I, Planning Coordination position in the Planning & Development Services Department. Reporting to the Senior Planner, Planning Coordination, the Planner I, Planning Coordination, requires a high degree of professional responsibility to manage, review, and make recommendations on Planning Coordination projects. The Planner I, Planning Coordination will also be responsible for representing the County on various internal and external committees, providing sound planning advice on Planning Coordination issues to the Senior Planner, providing support to the Senior Planner and Planner II's on a range of planning projects, and supporting Development Planning.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Land Use Planning, Planning and Development, Urban Design, Environmental Science, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, or related discipline.
- MCIP or RPP Certification would be considered an asset.
- Ability to understand and apply Provincial and Municipal planning policies, legislation, processes, procedures, and statutory planning documents in Alberta.
- Ability to take initiative to identify and resolve problems or conflicts.
- Possess and exhibit strong skills in presentations to Council, community associations, and government departments as required.
- Ability to manage time effectively, juggle multiple deadlines and tasks, and work within irregular and tight timelines.
- Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind.
- Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.
A starting annual salary of $82,300 to $89,000, with a maximum earning potential for this pay range of $104,200, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
