Why We Need You:
The Senior Manager, PMO (Function Owner) leads Article's centralized Project Management Office, a function responsible for enabling strategic execution and organizational maturity across the business. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of project management services, standardized operational tools, and internal consulting offerings that strengthen Article's internal market structure and improve the way work gets done.
You will guide a multi-disciplinary team of project managers and consultants who help Article functions plan, prioritize, and deliver critical initiatives, while also supporting broader operating model development through tools, training, and performance audits. This role sits at the intersection of execution and effectiveness — ensuring that teams are not only getting projects done, but that they're doing so within a scalable, well-defined structure. In addition to daily operations, you'll be responsible for managing your function's budget and resources as a Function Owner at Article, and for continuously evolving PMO services in alignment with company priorities.
What are the project portfolios you will oversee?
At Article, we have roughly 30 functions - all of our project-based activities are divided into two "types" of portfolios. Either, Operating OR investment portfolios. Currently, we are managing most of all project work at Article, and we aim to onboard all projects by the end of the year.
Why Article?
As a Particle (people of Article), you will have a high level of autonomy to solve challenging, meaningful problems the best way you can. That means you're trusted to explore solutions you believe will work best (you're the expert, after all). You'll do all this while growing your skills within a company that is redefining the furniture industry.
About the PMO and Organizational Excellence Team:
The PMO at Article is structured into two core delivery areas:
A. Project Management Services
At Article, project managers don't “own” the success of the project — that accountability rests with the business stakeholder. Instead, project managers are responsible for developing and maintaining the project plan, coordinating cross-functional efforts, and applying best practices in delivery so that project owners are set up for success. This includes schedule creation, risk identification, stakeholder coordination, and continuous improvement of project workflows using our internal OS2 model and tooling like Wrike.
B. Organizational Excellence Consulting
The consulting arm of the PMO is focused on strengthening Article's internal market structure. This team partners with functions to define clear service agreements, drive cross-functional alignment, and audit delivery commitments to improve overall performance. Acting as subject matter experts in how Article operates, the consultants support the early stages of initiative design – helping teams structure briefs, clarify objectives, and position proposals for successful funding from senior leadership.
They also play a key role in the annual planning, and implementation of internal tools that support structured ways of working. Their success is not measured by dependency, but by how effectively they enable teams to operate with greater independence
Together, these teams drive scalable delivery practices and partner with internal customers to elevate the maturity, accountability, and efficiency of how Article functions operate.
The PMO team is located in 2 regions. There are 3 Project Managers and 3 consultants in our Vancouver HQ and 3 Project Managers in Vietnam (Calls with the Vietnam team will be between 3-5 pm or a time of your choosing).
