EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time, ongoing

Program Description:

Guelph Community Health Centre's Family and Children's programming support families in our community with connection, education, and learning opportunities at all stages of life, from prenatal and infant support up to school-age programming. The EarlyON team offers programming on site (at Stone Road Mall) and across the community. The Parent Outreach Workers support families in our priority populations who may be experiencing challenges at home. Pregnancy to Parenting provides free, weekly, in person support for pregnant people experiencing barriers to health and We Breastfeed & Chestfeed offers both group and one-on-one peer infant feeding support to families.

TheManager of EarlyON and Family Support will oversee all of these programs and support the ongoing development and growth of the program and the staff teams. They will support the recruitment and training of staff and help develop work plans and goals. They will also be responsible for local and regional program planning related to families and children and will complete required funding reports and applications. This position is a part of the leadership team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • RECE Designation required
  • Completion of Early Childhood Education diploma or degree in related field coupled with 2 years + of supervision experience
  • 5 years experience working in early child development and/or family support
  • Strong knowledge and experience in pedagogical leadership and reflective practice in early years or family support environments
  • Team building skills and supportive of interdisciplinary practice
  • Advanced experience in use of MS Office applications
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and good knowledge of the special health needs of priority populations
  • Knowledge of community-based services related to families and children
  • Ability to effectively assess individual, group and family needs
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Effective time management, decision making and organizational skills
  • High level of confidentiality

Principal Job Duties:

  • Supervise the planning, implementation and evaluation of early learning programs for families with young children
  • Supervise the adaption of childrens programs to meet the four foundations of early learning
  • Work closely with Director and program staff to ensure that goals/vision and mission are aligned across programs
  • Provide pedagogical leadership and mentoring for team to Collaborate and reflect on best practices
  • Coordinate and facilitate program staff meetings as needed
  • Support volunteer requests, orientation, and supervision
  • Approve timesheets, time off and flex time for staff
  • Involve stakeholders in on-going planning and development of programs
  • Develop program policies and procedures and conduct ongoing review of programs
  • Monitor budget and program expenses and report to required funders
  • Evaluate projects and programs against strategic plans and funding limitations
  • Participate on boards, advisories, and committees as required
