Salary: Commensurate with level of experience; plus a defined benefit pension plan (HOOPP)
Hours: 14 hours/week

Status: Part-time, temporary for 3 months
Position Summary
The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking a Student, Computational Chemistry to join the Drug Discovery team.
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct a virtual screening on a therapeutically relevant target based on known structural data
- Deploy new and existing software tools to accelerate small molecule drug discovery of cancer therapies
- Help prepare building blocks and screening libraries that includes standardization of compounds followed by automated filtering and curation of generated databases
- Communicate effectively with internal collaborators
- Adhere to all OICR safety guidelines and policies and act as a positive example to peers
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a BSc in Chemistry or a related area
- Basic knowledge of some of relevant computational chemistry software, that include docking tools, visualization tools (Pymol), ICM Browser, Data Warrior, KNIME
- Knowledge of at least one programming language
- Some familiarity with organic chemistry
- Ability to work independently and know when to ask for help to manage priorities and meet timelines
- Ability to work as part of the team through effectively communication with internal collaborators
- Great team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter who is willing to adapt to a changing environment
