Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Marketing Manageris responsible foridentifying new markets and trends and analyzing and increasing sales of existing markets. The Marketing Manager coordinates plans and implements marketing activities to accomplish organizational goals and meet and/or exceed revenue goals and ensure promotional coverage and marketing opportunities are achieved. This position is also responsible for developing programs to increase occupancy and make profitable use of its accommodation, meeting and leisure facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Achieve maximum revenue in each targeted market segment for Hotel, Casino and Food and Beverage
  • Assist in developing strategic short-term and long-term planning for the Hotel, Casino and Food and Beverage Marketing operations.
  • Perform complex market research and determine the latest consumer trends
  • Can decipher the competitor's edge and optimize current branding strategies and marketing solutions.
  • Contributes ideas to grow existing business and expand into new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain a strong and consistent brand through a wide range of online and offline marketing channels
  • Must be knowledgeable and able to maximize the use of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok and etc.)
  • Proactively monitor the Hotels profile on the various social media platforms and ensure appropriate responses are posted in a timely fashion.
  • Develop strategies and tactics to get the word out about our property and drive qualified traffic
  • Build a relationship with media outlets in Central Alberta
  • Involved in the development, execution, and analysis of effective marketing programs targeted to existing and new customers
  • Manages and ensures the appropriate level of interdepartmental and intradepartmental communication of all marketing initiatives
  • Work closely with another department leader of the Hotel and Casino management team to identify marketing priorities and to determine the best and most creative ways to advertise our products and facilities
  • Establishes, maintains, and controls department budgets for promotions, advertising, public relation and social media
  • Troubleshooting marketing campaigns that are not performing well
  • Review, analyze and respond to customer feedback from social media platforms
  • Review and analyze advertising returns and reporting to upper management
  • Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct at all times when dealing with clients, guests etc.
  • Acquire full knowledge of the hotel, in-house facilities, and local information to respond to guest inquiries.
  • Must be an active member of Hotel and Casino Social Committee
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education, Qualification and Requirements

  • University or college diploma or degree in Business Administration or Hotel Management preferred
  • Three or more years of experience in the Marketing and Events department, hospitality industry preferred
  • Two to Three years of proven managerial experience including customer service and marketing
  • It is imperative for this position to have excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Other languages are an asset.
  • Strong advertising, public relations, brand marketing, database marketing and direct mail background
  • Extensive knowledge of casino and hotel internal controls, policies and procedures preferred
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities; exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Understands customers and builds organizational creditability
  • Displays a positive attitude, maintains enthusiasm and celebrates successes with the team
  • Possess a professional, positive and upbeat attitude;
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills, being able to manage different projects at one time and work within stringent time frames;
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail required
  • Strong knowledge in using photo editing software (Canva, Adobe Photoshop etc.)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check upon hiring

Work Environment

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to work on a computer for an extended period.
  • Repetitive work such as keyboarding, filing, answering phones, etc.
  • ability to walk around the hotel from department to department.
  • May be required to lift boxes up to 10 (ten) pounds when handling paper or files.
  • Occasional Travel within Alberta or outside Alberta
  • It often involves juggling many tasks and may become very stressful when business operations ramp up
