Purpose of the Position:
To achieve/improve/exceed targeted customer service levels by monitoring and managing inventories and managing demand and supply to plan for materials needed.
Position Summary:
As an integral part of the supply chain team whose key objective is on-time delivery of customer orders, the planner's focus is to keep track of inventory, anticipate demand, and suggest purchases to ensure production continuity. The supply chain planner will monitor demand forecasts and inventory levels to identify changes and determine their effect on supply.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Coordinate inventory planning and replenishment of ingredients, materials, and finished products.
- Maintain targeted inventory levels for assigned finished products and raw materials.
- Determine material requirements for all assigned products to meet both actual sales orders and sales forecast demands.
- Generate production orders and ensure availability of in-spec ingredients and materials for manufacturing to meet the requested production date, allowing for appropriate lead times at each stage (shipping, production, quality).
- Maintain strong working relationships and communications directly with subcontracted manufacturers, suppliers, and internal manufacturing to confirm production/shipping schedules and monitor open orders to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Proactively report finished product and raw material availability issues.
- Communicate confirmed shipping dates for new sales orders to Customer Service.
- Proactively provide supply status, including changes to confirmed shipping dates, to Customer Service.
- Participate in bi-weekly Demand and Supply Chain team planning meeting.
- Maintain and monitor Item Master Data; revise essential planning data in the company's ERP system to ensure it effectively plans future requirements.
- Participate in assigned supply chain steps related to new product introductions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of ERP system, inventory control, purchasing, and planning.
- Competency in Microsoft Office required.
- Supply Chain designation or Business/Commerce Degree or;
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in supply chain or inventory management.
