Description

We are seeking a Payroll Analyst who must have strong attention to detail and technical skills, including proficiency with automated payroll systems. The National Payroll Institutes, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) accreditation is an asset. The Payroll Analyst will stay current with changes to the Employment Standard Act or other regulations impacting employee payroll.

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the preparation and processing of weekly payroll for Union, Non Union hourly and salaried employees from end to end.
  • Audit payroll processing to ensure accuracy.
  • Address payroll issues.
  • Ensure all data files are complete and approved for transmission.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets and other input documents.
  • Track and enter all garnishments and other special payroll deductions.
  • Administer the issuance of T4s, ROEs, T2200, and various payroll reports as requested.
  • Ensure that all salaries/wages are paid accurately and in accordance with regulations in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure payroll and other personnel records are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist in the preparation of year end reports, and filing of all annual returns with federal/provincial governments.
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all employee records.
  • Be the main point of contact for all payroll related inquiries.
  • Work with other team members to coordinate responsibilities, and prioritize tasks, ensuring all important deadlines are met.

Qualifications:

  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) is an asset.
  • 5 years payroll experience.
  • Automated payroll systems experience is a MUST (i.e. Workday, ADP, Ceridian, UKG)
  • Process and data mindset, with focus on workflows through systems.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and ESA across Canada.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and ability to manipulate large pieces of data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team setting, a dedicated team player.
  • Able to work within tight payroll deadlines.
  • Excellent critical thinking ability.
